CSI Feature in Canberra Times "High Risk Training Delivered with Experience"

From July 1 there have been changes to the way you obtain a High Risk Licence to perform certain tasks within the ACT building & construction Industry.

To obtain a licence, you are now required to attend formal training at a Registered Training Organisation (RTO) and be assessed against a unit of competency for the class of high risk work you intend to perform.

On successful completion of the formal training, and once you are deemed competent, you will be issued a statement of attainment from the RTO.

You then lodge this statement to the Office of Regulatory Services and obtain your high risk licence.

Creative Safety Initiatives (CSI) has been providing accredited training in a wide variety of occupational health and safety and high risk licencing courses in the ACT for many years.

CSI is committed to assisting in reducing the number and severity of accidents in the workplace by providing the highest level of training.

High Risk Licensing training courses include dogging, hoist, scaffolding and forklift just to mention a few.

Training at CSI is provided under the experienced guidance of CEO Jason Jennings and by trainers with extensive industry experience.

Mr Jennings said training in High Risk is not just about reciting the modules of the course.

“The real knowledge comes when the trainer has actually worked in the industry for a number of years, experienced the situations and knows how to best teach people how to stay safe” he said.

CSI trainer, Dick Garrety spent 20 years in the construction industry as a scaffolder and doggman. He has a strong commitment to safety and believes that specific skills come from a combination of solid training instruction and practical knowledge.

Dick’s instructional style ensures that all his course participants gain that understanding needed to learn and remember the safety strategies they need.

Duncan Bennett-Burleigh is a construction industry legend, having spent 30 years in roles as a rigger, doggman and tower crane operator, Duncan know the risks and how to prevent tragedy. Duncan is a mentor of the highest calibre.

“We have made sure that the trainers at CSI are the best in the business and teach from their hearts and experiences” said Mr Jennings.

They love the industry, they know the industry and they are committed to passing on their knowledge through High Risk Licensing training” he said.
